Great Restorations and the Rediscovery of the Invisible Riches of Ancient Rome. New itineraries among ancient marble and Roman amphora
Special visit into the restoration site of the Great Hemicycle portion of Trajan’s market which has been closed to the public for the last three years. The visitors will be able to see the results of the important restoration project which is still being carried out and gain an understanding of its complexity, the difficulties encountered and the solutions found as well as gaining a deeper knowledge of the importance of restoration for the issue of conservation as well as issues related to making the cultural patrimony of the ancient world available as museums.
In addition, at the end of the visit, visitors can see the restoration site of a Renaissance cistern which will be the new exhibition space for the ancient roman amphorae of the Dressel collection which are conserved at the Mercati di Traiano.
